Parameter Estimation and Control of UAV by Frank Fan

This project aims to develop a systematic way to obtain models of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) that could be used for control design. The model of the UAV is to be obtained by test data gathered within RAVEN, thus bypassing wind tunnel testing.

UAVs of interest for this project include airplanes that are underacutated and/or of unconventional configuration, such as UAVs without horizontal tail surface or lacking rudder control; and unmanned rotorcrafts such as helicopters and quadrotors.

The control aspect of the project includes making the UAV perform aerobatic flights, such as transition to hover from level flight and back to level flight.
